Working draft prepared for launch — this is not reviewed legal counsel. If you need advice about your rights, consult a lawyer.
LinX ("we", "us") is a marketplace operated by Darren Ethier, Sole Proprietor, of Barrie, Ontario, Canada. The platform connects homeowners in Simcoe County with local contractors. LinX is a matching and lead-routing service — we are not a contractor, and we are not a party to any agreement between a homeowner and a contractor.
Posting a job and receiving quotes is free for homeowners. By posting a job you confirm the information you provide is accurate, and you consent to LinX sharing your job details and contact information with matched contractors so they can provide quotes. You may withdraw that consent at any time by contacting us.
Contractor plans (Starter, Growth, Unlimited) are paid monthly subscriptions in Canadian dollars. Payments are processed securely by Stripe; LinX does not store your card details. Your subscription activates when Stripe checkout completes and renews monthly until cancelled. You may cancel or change plans at any time by contacting LinX Services — changes take effect at the end of the current billing period. The Unlimited Trial provides two days of access before the monthly Unlimited price applies; cancelling before the trial ends avoids the first recurring charge. There are no refunds for partial months, except where required by law.
You agree not to: submit false or misleading job or business information; use the platform for spam, harassment, or unlawful purposes; attempt to disrupt the service or access other users' accounts; or scrape or copy platform content without permission. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.
Contractors are solely responsible for holding the licences, insurance, and permits their trade requires, and for the quality of work they perform. Homeowners hire contractors at their own discretion; LinX does not guarantee workmanship, pricing, or availability, and is not liable for disputes arising from contracted work.
Project chats between homeowners and contractors are monitored by LinX administration for safety, dispute records, and service quality. Messages are stored and may be reviewed by LinX staff. An automated AI mediator may insert calming messages when an exchange appears heated, and messages flagged by the mediator may be escalated for human review. By using project chat you consent to this monitoring and storage. Do not share passwords, banking details, or other sensitive credentials in chat. This section is a plain-language summary, not legal advice; have a lawyer review these terms before relying on them.
The service is provided "as is". To the maximum extent permitted by law, LinX's total liability for any claim arising from the service is limited to the fees you paid to LinX in the three months before the claim.
We may update these terms; continued use of the service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance. These terms are governed by the laws of Ontario and Canada. Questions: [email protected] or 705-716-0803.
